Jenny Zambrano
Assistant Professor
I earned my PhD in Ecology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor degree in Biology from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Previous to joining WSU, I was a postdoctoral Fellow at the Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center (SESYNC). My work examines fundamental questions in ecology by testing and integrating ecology theory at different organizational and spatial scales to better understand and predict the function and stability of forest ecosystems. A primary reason for developing this understanding is to apply it to questions regarding how forests are responding to changing environments and the implications of those changes for the long-term persistence of forests. My research approach integrates field studies, data synthesis and statistical modeling in pursuit of fundamental questions in ecology.
